Highly Efficient and Selective Capture of Pb(II) by New Crosslinked Melamine-Based Polymethyl Methacrylate for Water Treatment

Owing to the recent developments in polymer’s properties and application, demands for designing different structure of polymers are greater than ever. Crosslinked (CPs) a type porous materials that have variety potential applications. Because simple methods modification polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA), crosslinked PMMA considers most commonly polymeric adsorbents. A new melamine-based (C-PMMA/Mel) was prepared via polycondensation reaction between melamine used as crosslinking agent. Different characterization were carried out investigate molecular structures, thermal stability, morphology. C-PMMA/Mel applied adsorption behavior toward metal cations detected selective Pb(II). The evaluation adsorbent against Pb(II) ion studied using contact time, dose, initial concentration, effects pH. efficiency heavy metals improved presence matrix. has high efficacy removal ~94% Pb at pH 6 one hour. Noticeably, performance perfectly suited with Freundlich isotherm pseudo-second-order kinetic model. Additionally, showed no obvious loss after 7 cycles.
